Work with files and folders

During a file transfer session, you can manage files and folders easily using the tools available in 247connect.

Create a folder

You can create folders on either your device or the Agent's.

  1. In the Local Computer or Remote Computer tree view, select the target drive or folder.

  2. Click Create Folder.

  3. Enter a name for the folder and click OK.

Add a folder to favourites

To quickly access frequently used folders, add them to the Favourites folder.

  1. Select the folder in the Local Computer or Remote Computer pane.

  2. Click Add.

  3. The folder appears under Favourites in the tree view.

Rename a file or folder

  1. Select the file or folder.

  2. Click the Rename Light blue icon with a white text box on the left and a blue "X" on the right. icon or press F2.

  3. Enter the new name.

  4. Click OK.

Change file attributes

You can set or clear attributes, such as making a file to read-only.

  1. Select the file.

  2. Click the Properties Light blue icon with three horizontal white lines and blue bullet points on the left side. icon.

    Or

    Right-click and choose Properties.

  3. In the File Properties dialog, select or clear the attributes as needed.

Edit a remote file

You can open and edit files from the Agent's device and send the updated version back.

  1. Double-click the file in the Remote Computer pane.

    Or

    Select the file in the Remote Computer pane. Click the Open Item icon to open it in the default application, or click the drop-down arrow and select Choose application to choose a different application if required.

    Note: Depending on the file type, you may be prompted to confirm the upload.
  2. The file uploads and opens on your machine. After editing, save and close it.

  3. When prompted, click Yes to send the updated file back to the Agent. To rename the file, enter a new name in the Save As field. Click No to discard changes.

Notes:

  • If the file changes during editing, you'll be notified and can:

    • Save your copy with a new name.

    • Overwrite the remote file.

    • Cancel and discard your changes.

  • You can also edit a file using 247connect's internal text editor by right-clicking the file and selecting Quick Edit.

Delete files and folders

You can delete files and folders from either your device or the Agent's device.

  1. Select the file or folder.

  2. Click the Delete Red trash can. icon.

  3. A confirmation dialog appears.

  4. Select Include Contents to delete everything inside the folder (if applicable).

  5. Click Yes.

Notes:

  • You can only delete one folder at a time. If multiple folders are selected, only the last one is deleted.

  • By default, all files deleted from the Local Computer pane are sent to the Recycle bin.

Print file transfer list

You can print a folder tree, file list, or a selected area from either the Local Computer or Remote Computer pane.

  1. In either the Local Computer or Remote Computer pane, select the folder tree or file list to print.

  2. Click Print.

  3. In the Print options dialog, choose:

    • Folder tree or File list.

    • All to print the full list or Selection to print only the selected area.

    • Print Images to include file icons.

  4. Click OK.
