Chat

Use the Chat feature in 247connect to communicate directly with Agents. You can start a chat at any time - either independently or during a remote control session. You can use this feature to request actions, share information or confirm tasks without needing a phone call or another messaging tool.

Start a chat with an Agent

To chat with a Managed Agent

  1. Go to Managed in the side menu.

  2. Select the device from a device group.

To chat with an On-demand Agent

  1. Go to On-demand in the side menu.

  2. Select the required session.

Click Chat in the toolbar.

When prompted, click Open to launch the 247connect Control. To skip this step in the future, select Always allow portal.247connect.cloud to open links of this type in the associated app.

By default, connecting to an On-demand Agent requires user approval. You can also enable user acknowledgement for Managed Agents in Device group settings. While waiting, you'll see a Connecting screen. Click Cancel to stop the request.

Chat window

The Chat window opens on both your screen and the Agent's.

Note: If you start a chat while in a View session, the Chat pane appears in the View window. Click Chat again to close it.

Chat window. The session is active on device INVH612-W11-JN with user John. The session timer shows 00:23. In the chat log, the system message says "john has joined" in green. The user (labelled as You) asks, "Can you restart your machine." John replies with "Ok." The toolbar includes buttons for Save, Copy, View, File Transfer and Message. The session is encrypted with AES (P2P).

At the top of the window, you'll see the device name and session time. Icons indicate the session type:

Green monitor

Shows you are in a managed device session.

Green bi-directional arrows

Shows you are in an on-demand session.

From the toolbar, you can:

  • Save a copy of the chat.

  • Copy the chat text to your clipboard.

  • View the Agent's screen.

  • Open a File Transfer window.

  • Message the Agent.

  • Change the display theme.

  • Access about information and the Information Hub.

The status bar at the bottom of the window shows the device name, logged-on user and the type of encryption the session is using. This will display TLS + AES if the session runs through the gateway or AES (P2P) if the Control and the Agent are on the same network.

Send your message

  1. Type your message in the lower pane.

  2. Click the Send Blue send arrow. icon.

Your message appears in the main pane in the Agent’s Chat window.

The Agent can reply, copy or save the chat or end the session at any time.
