Manage roles

If you have the required permissions, you can open, edit and delete roles as needed.

Note: You can't edit or delete the Global Administrator role.

Edit a role

  1. Go to Account > Roles in the side menu.

  2. The display area shows a list of roles.

    Web Portal with Account > Roles selected. It lists four roles: Global Administrator, Managed User, On-demand User and Support level 1 access. Each role has a brief description. The Actions column includes icons for role cloning and deleting. At the top right are two buttons: Role assignment and Add role.

  3. Click the required role.

  4. Make the required changes to the role details or permissions. From the Role assignments tab, you can view existing role assignments, create new assignments and update the device groups associated with an assigned user or user group.

  5. Click Save.

View role history

You can view changes made to a role from the Role history tab.

  1. Go to Account > Roles in the side menu.

  2. Click the required role.

  3. Select the Role history tab.

  4. The Role history tab displays the role history for the selected role.

Delete roles

You can delete roles individually or in bulk.

Note: You can't delete a role while it's still assigned to users or user groups. Before deleting the role, remove all existing assignments from the Role assignments tab.
  1. Go to Account > Roles in the side menu.

  2. Click the Delete Red trash can. icon next to the role.

    Or

    To delete multiple roles, select the checkboxes next to each role. To select all roles available for deletion, click the checkbox at the top of the column. Click the Delete Red trash can. icon in the top right.

  3. A confirmation message appears. Click Yes.
