Deploy the Windows Control via Group Policy

You can deploy the 247connect Windows Control using Group Policy.

Download the 247connect installer for Windows

  1. In the 247connect web portal, go to Account > Installers in the side menu.

  2. Select the Control installers tab.

  3. Click Windows.

  4. Download the .msi file.

Add the 247connect Control installer to Group Policy

  1. Open Group Policy Management.

  2. Right-click Group Policy Objects and select New. Enter a name so it is clear what package you are distributing (e.g. 247connect Control).

New GPO (Group Policy Object) dialog in Windows. The Name field contains "247connect Control". The Source Starter GPO drop-down is set to "(none)". Below the fields are OK and Cancel buttons.

  3. Right-click the Group Policy Object you created and select Edit. The Group Policy Object Editor opens.

  4. In the Group Policy window, there are two installation types/levels for the package: 'Computer Configuration' and 'User Configuration'. We recommend using 'Computer Configuration' to avoid potential issues installing at 'User' level.

  5. Select the type of configuration and go to Policies > Software Settings > Software installation.

  6. Right-click Software installation and select New > Package.

  7. When prompted, enter the full UNC path to the .msi file (e.g. \\server\share\247connect.msi).

Group Policy Management Editor with a Group Policy Object named 247connect Control selected. Under Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings > Software installation, a file browser window is open. The selected file is 247control.msi, located in the 247connect folder on the Data (D:) drive. The file type is set to Windows Installer packages (*.msi).

  8. When asked for the deployment method, select Assigned.

Deploy Software dialog in Windows Group Policy. It displays three deployment method options: Published (unselected), Assigned (selected), and Advanced (unselected). Below the options is a description: "Select this option to Assign the application without modifications." At the bottom are OK and Cancel buttons.

  9. The package will appear in the Software installation section of the policy after a slight delay.

If you deployed the installer at the 'Computer Configuration' level, restart the Control machines to install the software package. If the package is set at the 'User Configuration' level, the users need to log off and back on.
