Configure the Windows Managed Agent using Group Policy

247connect integrates with Microsoft Active Directory, enabling you to manage Agent configurations centrally. To help you configure the Managed Agent configuration via Group Policy, we provide a ready-made ADMX template.

Download the ADMX template

  1. In the 247connect web portal, go to Account > Installers in the side menu.

  2. Select the Managed Agent installers tab.

  3. Click Windows.

  4. Download the ADMX template. This downloads as a zip file, which you’ll need to extract.

Copy the template to your domain Central Store

To apply the ADMX template to your Active Directory, the ADMX file and the corresponding ADML file must be copied to your domain Central Store.

Note: If you have not created a Central Store for your domain, please refer to Microsoft's documentation on how to set one up.

The default locations for a domain Central Store are:

  • ADMX files: %systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions

  • ADML files: %systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\ll-cc*

*Where ll-cc represents the language identifier, such as en-US for English United States or en-GB for English Great Britain.

Place the 247connect ADML files in the en-US language folder.

Once the files are in the correct folder, the 247connect template will appear automatically in Group Policy Management. However, all NetSupport policies are set to {not configured} by default.

Apply configuration changes via Active Directory

  1. On the domain controller, run Group Policy Management.

  2. Select the desired policy to apply the 247connect settings to or create a new policy.

  3. Right-click the policy and select Edit.

  4. The 247connect template is located under Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates.

    The template is called 247connect.

  5. Within this template, you will find the relevant 247connect settings for configuring the Agent device to connect to your organisation.
